This is a slow acting steroid shot for the relief of allergic rhinitis and hayfever. You will be assessed and treated using a licensed and clinically proven treatment called ‘Kenalog’.
Hayfever is inflammation of the facial tissues, such as your nasal passages and eyelids, as a reaction to pollen (an allergen). You may also suffer from other allergies such as pet hair or dust. The shot is also useful in these circumstances.
The use of Kenalog (Triamcinolone) is approved in the UK, and was widely available on the NHS, up until around 6/7 years ago.
There are possible (rare) side-effects which are fully discussed at consultation.
Most people would achieve seasonal relief of their hayfever, but occasionally you may need a further shot (which is fully charged) to sustain relief.
This is dependent on which allergies you suffer including tree pollens, weeds, mold, fungus and spores. The more allergies you have, the longer generally your symptoms will be spread throughout the year.
